HOME HISTORY ORDER CD PRODUCER'S PAGE ABOUT CLIFF JONES
A production of BABIES in Ottawa, Ontario was so successful that a small group of lawyers got together in order to fund the production costs ($50,000) of recording a marvellous ALBUM of all the musical numbers from BABIES. The selections on this web site page are from that album.
Sid the Rotten Kid (on giraffe) being sought by revengeful babies he has teased.

The composer as, well, a baby.

The babies in the new clothes each of their parents brought them.

EIGHT SONGS FROM BABIES FOR YOU TO HEAR

1. To hear "Blank Sheet Of Paper", sung by Everett near the beginning of BABIES, please click on BLANK SHEET

2. To hear "Here's A Little Something" sung by the (unseen) Parents looking in on their newborns and tossing in toys, stuffed animals and other goodies, click SOMETHING . (These two numbers are presented here as two separate tracks. In reality, they are joined and play as one number.)

3. To hear "Jenny Lee (Orphaned)", sung by Jenny Lee as she describes her seemingly lonely life to come, click JENNY LEE . (Fear not. In Act 2 Jenny Lee is Adopted. She is very excited and swears that her new Mom "looks a lot like me!".)

4. To hear "They Had Me To Save Their Marriage", sung by Georgie about her hard-working, pig-farming parents, click MARRIAGE . (This is a true story, actually. Except for the part about the Pig Angel.)

5. To hear the "Opera", sung by Rob the Snob (lead singer) and the Cast, in which (alas!) a sad tale (the likes of which can ONLY be told in opera form) is told, click OPERA . SYNOPSIS: It seems that Rob has all these toys but they belong to someone else. The owner takes them back. Rob cannot take the loss and decides to drink himself to death with a huge bottle of milk. He downs the milk, but then feels that he is going to explode. "Wait!" Rob cries. "I have made a mistake. I don't want to explode!". One of the others suggest that in order NOT to explode, Rob must burp. Someone must pat Rob on the back to burp him. Sid (the Rotten Kid) enters with an enormous, rubber toy mallet. He "pats" Rob on the back with it. Rob burps. All is well? Not really, because now Sid wants all of the toys, he wants EVERYONE'S toys. After protesting, everyone agrees that having each other is enough. Sid gets the toys. The others all get friends.

6. To hear "What's A Daddy?", sung by all the babies about the time when they wondered who this extra character hanging around Mom, was, click DADDY .

7. To hear "I'm Gonna Be An Actress", a vow to be in a Broadway musical sung by Eve, click ACTRESS .

8. To hear "What Are You Going To Do With All My Love?", sung by the whole Cast, click ALL MY LOVE . This soaring song has become the BABIES ANTHEM. It is a highly emotional moment in BABIES and most often brings audiences to their feet.
